Race Notice:
Three weeks notice via email on every race, even if you are still working with BLM. It allows us to notify our personnel.
- Ask us to attend your race. LESAR attendance is not guaranteed. (Clubs may also seek/hire AMR Ambulance and/or BLM EMTs as options or supplemental. However, on course rider support and radio comms would be limited)
- Hosting club MUST send a printable map with mile markers/check points, GPS file, and race flyer (race day itinerary) at least two weeks before the race (D38LESAR@gmail.com). No printable Map image of racecourse provided will be $30 fee (example shown below for printable map needs).
- Ideally, Pits/LESAR location is NOT at one end of the course, minimalizing distance to farthest point on racecourse.
Donations:
- Normal LESAR normal event hours of operations are 7:45am (bomb run start) and final checkered flag by 3:30pm. (This is still a 10-hour day when you factor in Command Post set up and tear down, plus 3 hours additional for volunteer’s travel to and from event).
- Donations of $8 per bike/quad rider, per race entry, unless other prior arrangements have been made. UTV race is $400 if on same day or $800 minimum if separate race day (See course mileage below).
- Bomb run NEVER to start before 7:30am if Sup mtn location or 7:15am if PCW/PCE locations.
- If hosting club decides to start bomb run earlier than 7:45am, there will be an additional $100 charge minimum. If event exceeds 3:30 checkered flag, the OT rules will override.
- LESAR requires up to 1 hour prior to bomb run start to setup command post and prepare equipment.
- Exceptions. Requests for extended hours of service will require overtime consideration at an additional donation. Any part of each addition hour of overtime will be $200.
- Example - bomb run starts at 7:30am and checkered flag at 3:40pm is 25 minutes OT, which will be $200.
Course Mileage:
- Normal racecourse looped mileage is to be 25 miles or less due to available resources and time of response considerations.
- Exceptions. A/B loop one lap race exceeding 25 miles and racecourses which have multiple 26-mile loops or greater. Concerns are distance from pits, time of response, need for additional staffing, second command post (provided by hosting club) at opposite side of course. Example a PCW race that goes all the way up to Wheeler.
- UTV – Cost is $100 for each additional 10 miles (or any part there off)
- Bike – Cost is $150 for each additional 10 miles (or any part there off)
- Example: 40-mile multi loop UTV race on individual race day is $1000
Camp Site for Trailer:
Please provide a reserved camp site area big enough for the command post/medical trailer and Life Flight Zone. Must be away from overhead power lines.
- If other persons are to park in LESAR AREA that are non-members or participants, it is the hosting club’s duty to ask them to park elsewhere.
- Camp Site should be close to road access at all times for Emergency Vehicles.
- On adjacent non race days, you may see the LESAR medical trailer on site, in the pit area as one of our deployment days. If you see the white “FIRST AID” swooper flag is up, we are there to assist any D38 racers and OHV park visitors.
Life Flight / Air Ambulance:
- Life Flight landing zone is to be a reserved area as clear and flat as possible with no bushes, power lines, campsites, or vehicles.
- Life Flight perimeter is to be a 150x150 ft.
- A cone device shall be used to mark landing zone area. Please no caution tape or light weight cones.
LESAR will Provide Flagging and will Construct:
The trailer will have cones put around with tape or flags; this is to represent a barrier around the trailer for our patient’s privacy inside the trailer. The barrier is to protect us as medical volunteers and our patients by the HIPPA law. NO pictures or videotaping PLEASE.
- Any non-family members or spectators must stand behind the taping/cones when we have patients present.
- Any persons not wishing to comply with these stipulations, may be asked to leave per BLM, Sheriff, or LESAR personnel.
Underage Riders:
All Racers under the age of 18 is under the responsibility and liability of LESAR once treatment is started. We will do everything we can to notify their Legal Guardian.
- An underage racer can only be released to a parent or Legal Guardian, if no Legal Guardian can be found, LESAR must notify officials (BLM, Ranger, Paramedic, Fire Dept., Etc) and minor will be held until Guardian comes forth, otherwise will remain in the custody of LESAR.
- If a minor is with a parent who is racing and racer does not stop or cannot be reached in a timely manner, LESAR will determine what treatment and/or transportation is necessary.
